Somatika je praksa u tijelu, s tijelom i kroz tijelo, u trenutku, u pokretu.
Somatika promatra pojedinca kao funkcionalnu jedinicu, sa svim aspektima koji djeluju i utječu na ostale. Čimbenik ujedinjenja je to što se na pojedinca gleda kao na funkcionalnu cjelinu. U ovom pristupu fokus studije je u pokretu i kroz pokret.
Život se odvija u pokretu. Kad prestane kretanje, prestane i život. To omogućuje svim našim iskustvima da postanu alat za buđenje i svijest o sebi, našim odnosima i našem okruženju.
IMPROVIZACIJA I ISTRAŽIVANJE POKRETA
Srce improvizacije je bivanje i stvaranje u trenutku. Ovaj način rada istražuje taj proces kroz ples, pokret, glas i izgovorenu riječ. Rad se odvija kroz solo izvedbe, duete, trija i veće grupne konfiguracije.
MUSHIN WU WEI… ONKRAJ IMPROVIZACIJE
Mushin je japanski izraz koji znači bez uma, u smislu bez razmišljanja. Koristim ovaj izraz da naznačim kretanje iz svjesnog uma; redatelj, kritičar, sudac… stanje unaprijed stvorene misli i dopuštanje da se pojavi tijek fizičke radnje bivanja u trenutku, u tijelu!
Wu Wei je taoistički koncept koji ističe da treba prestati pokušavati i umjesto toga slušati glas tkiva, mišića, kostiju, organa i daha. Dopuštati tijelu da nam govori što da radimo. Biti s onim što je bez ljudskog konstrukta. To je Wu Wei.
Ovi elementi – somatika, improvizacija, istraživanje pokreta i Mushin Wu Wei… istražuju se u pokretu i kroz pokret, onkraj improvizacije. Svaki od elemenata utječe na ostale, u interakciji je i stapa se s drugim elementima.
AUTOR/UČITELJ:
Gary Hoffman Soto ima iza sebe preko 50 godina proučavanja, prakse, podučavanja i izvođenja u umjetnosti/umijeću pokreta, plesu i borilačkim vještinama. Predavao je i nastupao u 21 zemlji diljem Europe, Azije, Australije, Novog Zelanda i Amerike. Bio je povezan s Annom Halprin 45 godina, uključujući kroz San Francisco Dancers’ Workshop i Tamalpa Institute.

SOMATICS
Somatics is a practice in, with and through the body, in the moment, in movement.
Somatics looks at the individual as a functioning unit with all aspects impacting and influencing the others. The uniting factor is that the individual is looked at as a functioning whole. In this approach the focus of the study is in and through movement.
Life unfolds in movement. When movement stops so does life. This allows all our experiences to become vehicles to wake up and be more aware of ourselves, our relationships and our environment.
IMPROVISATION AND MOVEMENT EXPLORATION
To be, and to create in the moment, is the heart of Improvisation. This work explores that process through dance, movement, voice and spoken word. The work unfolds through solo, duets, trios and larger group configurations.
MUSHIN WU WEI…BEYOND IMPROVISATION
MuShin is a Japanese term meaning no mind, as in no thinking mind. I am using the term to signify moving from the conscious mind; the director, the critic, the judge…a state of preconceived thought, and letting emerge the flow of physical action of being in the moment, in the body!
Wu Wei, is a Taoist concept, points out to stop trying and instead listen to the voice of the tissue, muscles, bones, organs and breath. Allowing the body mind to tell us what to do. To be with what is without human construct. This is Wu Wei.
These three subjects, Somatics, Improvisation and Movement Explorations, and MuShin Wu Wei…Beyond Improvisation are explored in and through movement. Each influences, interacts and blends with the others.

Gary Hoffman Soto has over 50 years studying, practicing, teaching and performing in the movement arts, dance and the martial arts. He has taught and performed in 21 countries throughout Europe, Asia, Australia, New Zealand and the Americas.
